DEEP TISSUE/SPORTS

Helps to break up any scar tissue that forms following an injury or strain. This technique reduces tension in muscles and connective tissues and allows greater blood flow, oxygen, movement and function within the muscle fibres. Deep tissue massage involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues.

CUPPING

Cupping therapy has been around since ancient Chinese and Egyptian times. Some literature dates back to one of the oldest medical history books discovered in Egypt, the Ebers Papyrus, which suggests that ancient Egyptians may have been using cupping therapy as early as 1550 B.C.

Useful for deep targeted treatment without painful compressive force, the benefits include:

  • Releasing tensile scar tissue and fascial adhesions

  • Reduces pain associated with trigger points

  • Improves circulation, blood, and lymph circulation

  • Relieves pain

  • May improve ranges of muscular movements which feel restricted

  • Reduces toxins produced in tensile/dysfunctional tissues

RELAXATION

A relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle, and rhythmic treatment that is designed to help you unwind, de-stress and provide relief. It involves slow and rhythmic strokes, gentle kneading, and light pressure on the muscles. In a 60-minute treatment, we cover the whole body which includes the arms, legs, hands, feet, neck, back, stomach, and glutes.

Benefits of relaxation massage:

  • Reduces muscular tension

  • Increases circulation

  • Promotes a general sense of relaxation and well-being

  • There are no deep tissue techniques used

  • Generally a pain-free treatment

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger points are hyper-tensile tissue sites found within a taut band of muscle fibres. It can feel hard, lumpy, gristly & slightly raised on palpation. The trigger point technique is used to relieve tension within the muscle. It increases the temperature and blood flow through the muscles promoting relaxation. When the muscle is more relaxed, it can return to its normal function & full length helping to restore normal movement whilst increasing the flexibility of the muscle.

MYOFASCIAL DRY NEEDLING

Myofascial dry needling (MDN) involves inserting fine, solid filament needles, either deep within or superficially, directly overlying a trigger point.

The primary purpose of MDN is to deactivate trigger points, thereby alleviating associated pain. An added benefit that MDN provides is a less painful treatment when compared to applying firm sustained manual pressure which may be painful to receive during treatment.

MDN is simply one of many treatment options used by health practitioners in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

As MDN Practitioners, it's important to differentiate this practice from Acupuncture. Acupuncture is a treatment method belonging to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its practice is concerned with inserting fine needles into meridian points to treat musculoskeletal and internal disorders via stimulation of Qi (energy).

MDN is NOT TCM.
